PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR OUR REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE ON SUNDAY, January 29TH: Please arrive at Flesher Hinton Music Store by 3:15pm. Please wear your blue band shirt, khaki slacks, dress shoes and socks.

Please remember to bring your listening CD’s to Sunday’s rehearsal.

We’ll continue working on the half step exercises on pg. 9. Please also prepare pg. 19 (2nd exercise).

Please be sure all selections are prepared and memorized for our Bull and Bush performance set for Sunday. This includes: All of Me, After You’ve Gone, St. James Infirmary, It Don’t Mean a Thing, Wolverine Blues, Royal Garden Blues, and Maple Leaf Rag.

The updated set order sheet and all audio recordings can be found on the Downloads page

Please also prepare the following for our rehearsal: Bye Bye Blackbird, When I Leave the World Behind, New Orleans Stomp (lift the solos), Blue Prelude, Black Bottom Stomp, and Just a Gigolo/I Ain’t Got Nobody.

We are dropping “Seduced” – it’s not appropriate for us to do that selection.

Please be sure that our Mile High Jazz Festival Set (2/1/12) is prepared and memorized!

The set order sheets and reference recordings can be found on the Downloads page

Please work really hard and be ready for Sunday’s rehearsal and performance.

We will car pool from Flesher-Hinton by approximately 6:00pm. Our 6:45-9:00pm performance with the Queen City Jazz Band will be at the Bull and Bush Pub (4700 Cherry Creek South Dr). Driving directions can be found on the Event Calendar page. Please tell your parents, relatives and friends that there is no cover charge, but tables are usually filled up by 5:00pm. Please remember to bring dinner money as we will eat at the Pub.

A drum set and piano will be provided for the performance.

I’m going to try and book our band for as many paid performance dates as possible between now and the time we leave for New Orleans. I’ll try and help everyone out so we can financially afford to go on our two trips in May and June. By next Saturday, January 15th, please get me all conflict dates and times from now through June 10th. Check your school and home calendars – include school band concerts, SAT or ACT testing dates, prom, final exams, family trips, the school musical, band festival dates, other outside music group gig dates, graduation, college audition dates, and anything else you can think of. We will then let our venues know of our availability and book us up as much as possible. SO FAR I’VE ONLY RECEIVED DATES FROM 4 OF YOU!
