PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR OUR NEXT REHEARSAL ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH: Please arrive at Flesher-Hinton Music Store  (3936 Tennyson, Denver) by 6:15pm. We will hold a special parent/student meeting from 8:45 until 9:15 pm to discuss the possibility of 2 future trips (New Orleans, and the Sacramento Music Festival). 

Welcome to Mason Stillman, our new drummer! He will be a wonderful addition to our DJC Youth All-Stars!

Please remember to bring your November dues to Sunday’s rehearsal.

Our contact in New Orleans has now told us that our previously selected April 26th through 30th dates will not work. Those dates are the beginning of a major music festival in New Orleans, so no performance venues will be available for youth bands. Please check your calendars and see if any of these dates will not work for you:

Please remember to bring your listening CD’s to Sunday’s rehearsal.

Practice your pentatonics around the circle of fourths. Also, your major triads plus six around the circle of fourths, on page 6. We’ll continue working on the half step exercises on pg. 9 as well. Please also prepare pp. 14-16.

Everyone should now have their transcribed solo complete from memory and on manuscript paper – please be prepared to play your solo for us on Sunday.

Please prepare and memorize the 3 tunes for the November 20th DJC session: Bill Bailey, All of Me, and Royal Garden Blues.

Time permitting, we will also rehearse: Them There Eyes, Bourbon Street Parade, Five Foot Two, New Orleans Stomp (music will  be handed out on Sunday), Maple Leaf Rag, After You’ve Gone, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Don’t Blame Me, Exactly Like You, I’ve Found a New Baby, Black Bottom Stomp, Canal St. Blues, Singin’ the Blues,  Si Tu Vois Ma Mere, The Mooche, Dead Man Blues, Cornet Chop Suey, Washington and Lee Swing, and Wolverine Blues.

Please work on lifting the Wolverine Jazz Band’s arrangement of Caravan. Also, please practice Avalon in Eb for Ben’s vocal.

Please work really hard, enjoy your private lessons, and be ready for Sunday’s rehearsal.
