I’m happy to announce that the Denver Jazz Club Board voted to contribute $1000 to our CMEA/Broadmoor Performance Trip on January 24th through 25th. That left a difference of under $200 that we had to take out of our share accounts. That trip is totally paid for.
We still have not heard from the Sacramento Music Festival, but are assuming we will be invited to perform there once again this year. That trip will amount to $570 per person. I was able to divide up our remaining earnings from performances, donations and cd sales, and add those to each share account. So everyone now has at least $405 in their account, which covers most of our Sacramento trip.
As was mentioned at the December parent/student meeting, we are estimating the Montreux, Switzerland trip to cost $4000 per person. We need to be ready to pay the Sacramento and Montreux airfares in February, so I’ve come up with payment plan listed below. These dates correspond to the times each monthly dues need to be paid as well. The amounts listed do not include the $120 monthly dues. The amount in parenthesis is for the parent trip to Montreux, so there is no Sacramento cost added.
Feb. 10 – $1845 ($1500)
March 10 – $680 ($625)
April 14 – $680 ($625)
May 12 – $680 ($625)
June 9 – $680 ($625)
I’m also happy to announce that Koli Jamerson, Bettye Jamerson, Emilia Pina and myself, met on January 10th to discuss and plan out our Europe Trip Benefit Concert. We believe that every student has the opportunity of getting their entire trip paid through their ticket sales for this concert. The event will be held at a venue in the Denver area on either Friday, June 7th (5-10pm, 6-9pm concert) or Sunday, June 9th (2-7pm, 3-6pm concert).
Students, please be at our rehearsal at Flesher-Hinton by 6:30pm.
Please remember to bring your January $120 monthly dues (except for Trevor who is already paid).

The set orders and reference recordings can be found on the Downloads page. Please be sure all tunes are prepared and memorized completely for our 2 gigs on January 20th.
Please also be working on: Midnight in Moscow, Potato Head Blues, Cornet Chop Suey, Bye Bye Blackbird, Sing Sing Sing, Come Fly With Me, Muskrat Ramble, West End Blues, Minnie the Mooche, My Walkin’ Stick, Water from an Ancient Well, and Sheik of Araby.

Please work really hard and be ready for Sunday’s rehearsal.

Please remember to bring your listening CD’s on Sunday.
