A special congratulations goes to the 5 musicians who performed at the Club on Sunday! You guys did an excellent job under a very stressful situation. Our band has never had such small numbers ever perform in the past – and you pulled it off!! Thank you to Matt for the great vocal and leadership you provided throughout the performance. Thanks so much for the excellent announcing and for accepting congratulations from the DJC on behalf of our other 2 seniors. Great job Josh on playing both the banjo and the bass. Colton, well done on keeping the tempos right where they needed to be. Tyvon and Kris, nice work on the reeds – you guys played well on Sunday!

Please arrive at Flesher-Hinton Music Store by 6:30pm for Sunday’s rehearsal. This will be the final rehearsal for all our musicians leaving the band over the next 2 weeks – let’s make it a great one!

Mason – please bring your drum set to Sunday’s rehearsal for the very last time!

Please remember to bring your listening CD’s on Sunday.

Please be prepared to play all your major scales around the circle of fourths. We’ll also do pg. 6 in the improv book – Major triads plus 6th’s around the circle. Please practice so you can do it all from memory.

We will rehearse the July 26th, 28th and 29th  performance sets.

The set orders and reference recordings can be found on the Downloads page

Please work really hard, enjoy your private lessons and be ready for Sunday’s rehearsal.

Please come prepared with any car pool needs for the 4 days we’ll be commuting to/from Evergreen.

For the Evergreen Jazz Festival Educational Workshop – Please invite any of your jazz musician friends to join us, since we have financial support to have them participate for FREE! Also, so far, I have Cameron, Kris, Tyvon and Josh planning on staying up in Evergreen with the Simons’. Please let me know if anyone else would like to stay up in Evergreen with Colton or the Simons’. Also, please let me know if your parents would like to take advantage of the half priced festival admission badges that are being offered to workshop participants. The brochure has been uploaded to the website with all the prices and badge choices. There is even an option to only attend our Saturday 1:30pm workshop performance at the Lake House for just $5.00 for immediate family members. Please realize that our Sunday set is a full festival badge performance – no complimentary admissions. I will need those badge/ticket orders and payments no later than the start of the workshop on Thursday morning, July 26th. You can also bring them to me at Sunday’s rehearsal.

On Sunday we will need to select the tunes for the Flesher-Hinton Music Store Customer Appreciation Day. Dallas, Alex and Matt  can select the selections, since that will be your final appearance with our band.

Our new CD is here! Everyone will get 1 complimentary CD on Sunday. If you would like more CD’s, please bring payment for any extras you would like to purchase.
