PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR OUR PERFORMANCE AND REHEARSAL ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20TH: Please arrive at Westminster Elks Lodge (3850 Elk Drive) by 3:15 pm. Driving directions can be found on the Event Calendar page. Please wear your maroon band shirt, khaki slacks, dress shoes and socks. We perform from 3:45 until 4:15 pm. Your Father’s Mustache Band will also probably have us join them for a few tunes after we conclude our set. Parents, friends and relatives are very welcome to attend for free.

A drum set and piano will be provided for the performance.

Please be sure all selections are prepared and memorized for our Denver Jazz Club performance set on Sunday (Bill Bailey, All of Me and Royal Garden Blues).  The set order sheet can be found on the Downloads page. Please note that Cameron and Dallas are announcing on Sunday, so please memorize the script.

At 5:00 pm we will car pool to dinner on our way to rehearsal – please bring dinner money,

Please remember to bring your listening CD’s to Sunday’s rehearsal.

Practice your pentatonics around the circle of fourths. Also, your major triads plus six around the circle of fourths, on page 6. We’ll continue working on the half step exercises on pg. 9 as well. Please also prepare pp. 15-16.

Everyone should now have their transcribed solo complete from memory and on manuscript paper – please be prepared to play your solo for us on Sunday.

Time permitting, we will also rehearse: Them There Eyes, Bourbon Street Parade, Five Foot Two, New Orleans Stomp (music will  be handed out on Sunday), Maple Leaf Rag, After You’ve Gone, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Don’t Blame Me, Exactly Like You, I’ve Found a New Baby, Black Bottom Stomp, Canal St. Blues, Singin’ the Blues,  Si Tu Vois Ma Mere, The Mooche, Dead Man Blues, Cornet Chop Suey, Washington and Lee Swing, and Wolverine Blues.

Please work on lifting the Wolverine Jazz Band’s arrangement of Caravan. Also, please practice Avalon in Eb for Ben’s vocal.

The updated set order sheet and all audio recordings can be found on the Downloads page

Please work really hard, enjoy your private lessons, and be ready for Sunday’s rehearsal.

PLEASE DON’T FORGET – We are in the process of updating our website, so please submit a paragraph of bio. info that I can post on the website about you. Please check out the postings that are already up there to give you some ideas on how to write your paragraph. Please email those to me as soon as possible. We still need bios from Tim and Mason.

NEW ORLEANS TRIP UPDATE – our contact has recommended that we not go in February since it’s a poor time to get performance opportunities there (right after Mardi Gras, people don’t go out much during Lent, etc…). Cameron has a band concert on January 20th so our 2nd choice is out as well. I’d like to set the trip for June 11 through 16 (1 additional day than previously announced). During that time we will have numerous performance opportunities – a jazz festival, a jazz workshop, and many gigs at a variety of venues.

Please double check that those dates will work – I’ll confirm with everyone on Sunday. Then we’ll collect the airfare checks and make our reservations.
