Good rehearsal today everyone! We should have a very smooth recording session on Tuesday!!

We’ll see everyone on Tuesday, June 6th, from 9:30am until 5:30pm, at Mighty Fine Productions Recording Studio (5225 E. 38th Ave, Denver). Please bring music, cymbals, brass mute/stand, reed stands, and lunch money (Casual dress).

 On Thursday, June 8th, we’ll meet at 5:30pm at the Pavilion at Central Park (8801 E. Martin Luther King Blvd, Denver; No Joanna; Non-Uniform Dress) 6:30-7:30pm, No Joanna) for our 6:30-7:30pm Performance at Joey’s Graduation Party. 

On Friday, June 9th, we’ll meet at Concordia on the Lake Retirement Community, by 4pm, for our 5-6pm performance; No Joanna; Blue/Pants)

We’ll see everyone on Sunday, June 11th, by 2:15pm, at Westminster Elks Lodge (3850 Elk Dr), for our 2:50-3:15 and 4-4:20pm performances (No Joanna) in between the sets of Jeremy Mohney and his Band. This will be Lena & Joey’s final Denver Jazz Club Session Performance, so let’s make it very special. They will receive their award stars on Sunday. Please wear your maroon/pants band outfit, and bring dinner money, bass amp, brass mute & stand, reed stands, and cymbals. Please be sure all 6 tunes are memorized for Sunday’s performance. 

Parents are always admitted free to the Denver Jazz Club Sessions.

At 5:15pm we’ll car pool to a quick dinner on our way to our very important 6:45-7:15pm Required Parent/Student New York City Trip Meeting (No Joanna & Bennett) at Denver Percussion. If health and/or insurance card changes have taken place, please bring copies of the new insurance card, and complete the attached health forms.

We will select and rehearse all the tunes we’ll be performing at Mercury Cafe (6/17), 16th St. Mall (6/18), Veterans Community (6/20), Q’s (6/20), and our NYC Concert Tour (6/24-6/30). Please bring all your music, a pencil, and improv book to every rehearsal. We’ll need to perform pg. 36 in our improv book.

CONGRATS ON AN EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE AT Q’S TONIGHT!!!!

We’ll see everyone at 2pm, on Friday, June 2nd, for our 3-3:45pm performance at Avogadro Number (605 S. Mason St, Ft. Collins). Please wear your maroon outfit, and bring dinner money, reed stands, brass stand & mute, and bass amp. There will be a keyboard available for us. Please leave plenty of extra time to make the long trip to Ft. Collins (Around 1 1/2 hours for most of us). Parents, family and friends are encouraged to attend, but you should have confirmed the number of guests by now. Our performance set runs from 3 until 3:45pm. Then we will join the Poudre River Irregulars at 6:40-7pm for a few tunes. We will dismiss at approximately 7:15pm. Please prepare and memorize all 11 tunes for Friday’s performance.

Critique at Q’s for Tunes at Avo’s:

Si Tu Vois – Sebastian, play all the correct notes at the starting melody section; Lena, Be sure to play the echoes to the Bone Melody; Everyone, play the 3 final chords, with Joanna directing.

Ham and Eggs – Joanna, please encourage the audience to sing along; Lena, don’t miss the scat vocal.

It Don’t Mean a Thing – Everyone, Be sure the audience can hear the melody in the head sections – especially in the shout chorus. Careful of the tempo, so it doesn’t sound a bit frantic at times.

We’ll see everyone on Sunday, June 4th, by 3:45pm (No Bennett), at Denver Percussion, for our 3:45-6:30pm weekly rehearsal.
