Jan 202018

We’ll see everyone by 3:15pm on Sunday, January 21st, for our early 3:50 to 4:15pm performance at Westminster Elks Lodge (3850 Elk Dr). Please wear your blue/slacks band outfit and bring dinner money, cymbals and bass amp. Please be sure all 3 tunes are prepared and memorized for Sunday’s Performance – Sheik of Araby; Midnight, the Stars and You; & Ice Cream. We’ll leave the Club around 5:15pm and stop for a quick dinner on the way to our 6:15 – 9pm vocal clinic/rehearsal with Wende Harston.

Ellington will have Sunday’s listening.

The January Dues and Trip Payment #5 were due on Sunday, January 7th. Please bring them on Sunday if you haven’t paid yet.

Since the Sacramento Music Festival is no longer happening, seniors will be done making monthly trip payments after the April 29th payment is turned in.

The Sacramento Music Festival Trip is being replaced with the Sacramento Hot Jazz Jubilee Festival, from August 31st through September 3rd (Labor Day Weekend). This will be for the 2018-19 band.

We need to continue to have everyone perform the melodies to all our tunes from memory. Here are the ones that still need to be checked off:

Ain’t Misbehavin’ – Kiyah; All of Me – Kiyah & Steve; At the Jazz Band Ball – Ellington; Bill Bailey – Kiyah; Bourbon Street Parade – Steve; Caravan – Steve; Creole Love Call – Steve & Kiyah; Drop That Sack – Steve; Ham and Eggs – Kiyah & Antonio; Ice Cream – Kiyah; Is It True What They Say About Dixie – Kiyah & Steve; Mardi Gras in New Orleans – Steve; Midnight in Moscow – Kiyah & Steve; Panama – Steve, Ellington & Charles; Royal Garden Blues – Kiyah; Sheik of Araby – Kiyah; South Rampart Street Parade – Steve; Take the A Train – Ben; & Washington and Lee Swing – Kiyah, Benj & Charles

I’ve posted all the audios to the new music possibilities: Potato Head Blues; St. Louis Blues; Alabama Jubilee; Hello Dolly; My Favorite Things; West End Blues; Ory’s Creole Trombone; Just a Closer Walk With Thee; Singin’ the Blues; St. Thomas; I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire; The Preacher; and 42nd Street.
